ABOUT 252 female youths graduated from the Youth Service in Zimbabwe programme this afternoon, after completing a six-month intensive training at Vumba Youth Training Centre.
During their training, they acquired vital skills in entrepreneurship, leadership, and patriotism.
Speaking at the pass-out parade, the Minister for Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Tino Machakaire, said youth service training is critical for the nation’s advancement, as it moulds well-oriented citizens who prioritise their country’s interests.
“Today is a momentous occasion, not just for the graduates but for our entire nation,” he said. “The graduates embody our national vision of youth empowerment, development, and transformation. We celebrate a significant milestone for the trainees drawn from all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe who are graduating today.
“This marks the second graduation at Vumba since the successful launch of the rebranded Youth Service in Zimbabwe programme by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in May 2024. The certificates our graduates received today are not just mere handouts but testaments to hard work, resilience, and discipline. Their rigorous training was comprehensive, encompassing physical education, national orientation, and civic education. Through lessons in entrepreneurship, leadership, and Zimbabwean history, they fortified their minds and character, grounding themselves in the vital values of Ubuntu/hunhu. Zimbabwe is fighting against drug and substance abuse, a scourge that threatens to rob our youth of their potential. But today, I do not see victims; I see warriors armed not with weapons but with wisdom, resilience, and purpose,” said Minister Machakaire.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza said the Government is rolling out several projects aimed at economically empowering youths across the province.
