More than 3 000 beneficiaries of the Murombedzi Housing Scheme in Zvimba District are set to receive title deeds after the local authority successfully completed surveying their stands.
The Zvimba Rural District Council completed the stands title surveying, also known as pegging.
This emerged during an investment promotion, marketing and revenue collection roadshow held at Murombedzi Growth Point during the weekend.
Addressing hundreds of people who attended the event, Zvimba RDC chief executive Mr Peter Hhlola said the move was in line with Government’s thrust to improve the living standards for people in rural areas.
He, however, urged the residents to pay their rates and to construct their houses according to the local authority’s recommendations to qualify for the title deeds.
“I assume you may not know one of the outstanding things that your council has done is successfully surveying the stands in Murombedzi District,” he said.
“We did this to add value to your stands. When you obtain these title deeds you can easily obtain a bank loan using your house as collateral. These developments are usually achieved by a few of the local authorities in rural areas.”
Mr Hlohla also said the local authority serviced more than 105 commercial stands at Murombedzi Business Centre.
He said the stands would be allocated after they are fully serviced, including surfacing of the roads.
“Let us work hand-in-hand to develop our area. To the businesspeople, I encourage you to keep our growth point clean as well as to upgrade your buildings as this will help to attract more investors to our area,” he said.
