THE Zifa Central Soccer League board has ordered three of its affiliates not to fulfil fixtures until they settle their affiliation fees in full.
Affiliation fees have been pegged at $2,800 for old clubs while new clubs are supposed to fork out   $3,250.Correctional services side Whawha, Gokwe-based Chomumvuri Pirates and league newcomers Nkayi United are the three affected clubs and their weekend matches were forfeited on a three-nil scoreline.

Whawha were supposed to play Tongogara while Chomumvuri Pirates also made sure that Silo United records their first win of the season albeit off the field of play.

Blanket Mine also benefited from Nkayi United’s woes as they were awarded three points without travelling to the league newcomers.

A board member Stanley Chapeta said the clubs had been given a three-game grace period which was extended to six games for them to pay all affiliation fees.

“We were left with no option but to suspend them from fulfilling fixtures until they settle their arrears. We gave them enough time to settle the affliation fees and the move we have taken is the last resort,” Chapeta said.

He said if the teams fail to settle arrears in the next two weeks they will be expelled from the league.

On the field of play, Gweru City bounced back to winning ways after clobbering police outfit, ZRP Beitbridge at Wilson Fields on Sunday.

“Chiwororo”, as the Gweru side is affectionately known, got their goals through Willie Zhuakinyu inside 20 seconds of kick off and a 23rd minute goal by Brian Sarupinda sealed the fate of the border town side.

Chrome Stars maintained their fine run after edging Zvishavane Stars 1-0 at Mandava Stadium.

A Warren Mapawo strike in the 35th minute was all the former Premiership side needed to collect maximum points.
