THREE people have died, while 10 others, including the driver, were injured in a horrific traffic accident along the Rusape-Nyanga Road this morning.
The accident happened at around 5.30am near the 89km peg when a Nissan Vanette, travelling towards Nyanga, reportedly encroached into the lane of an oncoming vehicle. The driver, Privilege Mandivheyi (35) of Bonde Village in Nyanga, lost control and the vehicle overturned.
One passenger died on the spot, while two others died upon admission at Nyanga District Hospital.
The deceased were identified as Malvin Chigwanda (37) of Nyatondo Village under Chief Hata, Edmore Maredza (43) of Tadoka Village under Chief Hata and Prosper Mukoto (35) of Nyatondo Village.
Police in Nyanga attended the scene, and the bodies of the deceased were taken to Nyanga District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. Their next of kin were also notified.
The vehicle sustained extensive body damage, and was awaiting inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID).
