3 England players spotted urinating on pitch

LONDON. – At least three players – Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson – were spotted urinating on the pitch at The Kia Oval late on Sunday night as they gathered to savour their 3-0 Ashes win.
England were forced to apologise for the embarrassing way in which they dampened down the euphoria of their Ashes celebrations.
The juvenile behaviour angered Surrey, who asked the England and Wales Cricket Board to look into the matter and the England players responded on Wednesday by saying sorry en masse, even if they did not confirm the allegations.
“The England team would like to state that during our celebrations after winning the Ashes at no time was there any intention to disrespect Surrey, The Oval or anyone else involved in the game we love,” read the statement.
“We got carried away amid the euphoria of winning such a prestigious series and accept that some of our behaviour was inappropriate. If that has caused any offence to anyone we apologise and want to reassure people that it was a simple error of judgment more than anything else.”
The apology could have come sooner but at least England recognised that they could not ignore an incident witnessed by Australian journalists.
Nobody minds the team drinking after such a notable success, and pictures of Alastair Cook and Matt Prior trying to thumb a lift outside The Oval to get back to their hotel late at night are all part of the post-Ashes fun.
But urinating on such a fabled cricketing stage was unacceptable and, now they have recognised that, perhaps they can move on from such yobbish behaviour.
Broad was in no mood to expand on the statement at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday ahead of last night’s first Twenty20 international against Australia. But the Twenty20 captain insisted no damage has been done to the reputation of the team.
“English fans support winning teams,” said Broad. “They turn out to see winning sides and they’re very proud of what this team are putting together. The atmosphere at The Oval was amazing.”
Now Broad aims to continue England’s domination of the Australians in the first of two Twenty20s that precede a five-match one-day series.
Some big names will be missing, prompting former England captain Michael Vaughan to suggest that supporters should be offered a partial refund.
“That’s disrespectful to the players picked who have performed in county cricket,” said Broad.
“As a one-day international team we are building to the 2015 World Cup and you need to have a big group with experience going into that.” – Mailonline.
