3 junior footballers set for AC Milan

The three are Solomon Solobala from Chamisa United FC, Marwin Mudzuka of Sisa academy and Anesu Fensi pf Domboramwari High.
The players were selected by Italian scout and AC Milan Junior Programme technical director, Fabrizio Bobbiesi during a five-day scouting programme from August 15 to 19 at Churchill High School.
The event was attended by 1 500 children and 200 were chosen in the final list of the scouted players.

The 200 players will be placed in the WWS development Academy where they will have a chance to participate and qualify for many other opportunities, including playing in the 2012 AC Milan Continental tournament.

The three players will participate with children scouted from all over the world at AC Milan Junior camp to be held at the end of October. They will also have the opportunity to meet AC Milan players and watch AC Milan team play in a home game in Milan. Speaking on the sidelines of a Press conference held by WWS at their offices in Gunhill, the young players said they were all excited.

Ten-year-old Solobala said it was a great achievement for him to be selected for the training camp.
“I am very happy about my achievement and about going to AC Milan. It is something great and I thank God because I was praying for this to happen. I have faith in God. I also want to thank my coach, Douglas Ndlovu,” said Solobala.

Bobbiesi was impressed by the talent he saw in the country and said he is hopeful the players will scale loftier heights in the sport.
“Zimbabwe talent is very good, the children are very disciplined and will go far in soccer. I look forward to coming to Africa with WWS annually to conduct this exercise and this is a good development between WWS and AC Milan Junior Programme,” said Bobbiesi.

WWS president, Munya Maraire, said it is a great achievement for the three players selected from Zimbabwe for the AC Milan Camp.
“This is a new day for Africa in football. It is now time to see children from impoverished backgrounds participate on a level playing field and flourish. I am very excited about the partnership with the AC Milan Junior programme and I believe there is more to come in terms of programmes that will develop soccer in Zimbabwe on a whole from exchanges with coaches to exchanges with players.

“I think for us it is an amazing day for the kids to come through World Wide Scholarships. It is an opportunity to train among some of the best junior players from AC Milan. It is also an opportunity, if they excel, for them to be scouted for AC Milan junior programmes,” said Maraire.
WWS have over the years produced a number of successful athletes for the country with some of them now based in the United States.

Maraire said they were impressed with the progress they have made in developing some of the best athletes in the country.
“For us we are so excited watching kids from Zimbabwe doing well.
“We have the likes of Gabriel Mvumvure and Ngoni Makusha who have been through WWS. It shows that what we are doing is working,” said Maraire.
