“Due to the current threats of disturbances prevailing in the district, I do hereby advise that I wish to invoke Section 14 of the Public Order and Security Act, Chapter 11:17 and the provision contained therein,” said Supt Ncube in a statement.

He said the police are guided by the Constitution in enforcing the temporary ban.

Supt Ncube gave a list of the prohibited weapons.

“The weapons include catapults, machetes, axes, knobkerries, swords, knives or any traditional weapons. The prohibition is effective from August 5, 2016 to November 5, 2016,” he said.

A number of cyber terrorists have in recent months been circulating messages on social media bent on destabilising the country through street marches. Some western embassies have been exposed for sponsoring groups and individuals bent on causing mayhem in the country.

Security agencies have since warned people not to be involved in criminal activities as they are ready to defend the peace prevailing in the country. — @walterbmswazie2
