THIRTY-EIGHT participants are set to graduate with a CAF D coaching badge after completing a week-long course at Manicaland Christian School in Mutare.
The course, part of several coaching courses unveiled by the football governing body, ZIFA, after the country’s return to international football, is being conducted by former Mighty Warriors head coach, Sithethelelwe “Kwinji” Sibanda.
Of the 38 participants, 34 are males and four females.
The course started last Monday and ends on Wednesday.
The current course follows another CAF D class that recently graduated in Mutare.
The CAF D badge is for grassroots football, and targets children aged six to 12, schools, communities and clubs. It focuses on a holistic approach to coaching, developing basic techniques, social skills, tactics and physical literacy.
A key aspect is a module on safeguarding, part of FIFA’s push to create safe environments for all stakeholders in football.
The CAF D programme also includes a football festival concept for children, where they play and learn techniques during organised local community activities.
