FOUR suspected armed robbers armed with a pistol raided a car sale in Harare and attacked a security guard before stealing a Toyota Fortuner.
They also stole a television set and loaded it onto the stolen vehicle before driving off.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police were investigating the robbery which occurred at a car sale in Avondale on Monday night.
“The suspects broke into the office were they took car keys of a white Toyota Fortuner motor vehicle, registration number AGC 3117 and one television set, which they loaded into the motor vehicle and drove away,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
He has called on anyone with information to report at any nearest police station.
The incident comes after police in Harare recently said they were looking for 12 suspects who raided a company in Mbare and a school in Westlea in separate incidents last week, before stealing nearly US$73 000, R4 500 cash and various cellphones.
The Mbare incident occurred last Thursday night where seven robbers got away with over US$72 440, after attacking security guards manning the premises.
In Westlea, five robbers got away with over US$420 and cellphones after attacking two security guards last Tuesday.
Police in Mbare also said they were investigating circumstances surrounding a robbery that occurred at a company in Workington on September 28 around 10pm.
Seven robbers wearing balaclavas, armed with six pistols and one unidentified type of a rifle, attacked two security guards who were on duty, tied them with shoelaces and shoved them into a ZESA cabin.
The suspects broke into one of the offices and stole US$1 150 and R4 500, which was in the drawer before breaking a safe using a grinder and stole US$26 640.
The robbers got into another office where they broke a safe and stole US$44 650 and a CCTV recorder.
Police in Mabelreign are still investigating the robbery of a school in Westlea last Tuesday around 8.35pm.
Five robbers wearing balaclavas and armed with pistols attacked two security guards on duty and stole a Tecno cellphone, an Itel P38 cellphone and US$177 cash.
The robbers tied the victims with shoelaces and proceeded to the caretaker’s house where they attacked two more victims and stole a Huawei P20 cellphone, an Itel cellphone, US$200 cash and administration block keys.
Police said the robbers force-marched the victims to a classroom block where they tied them with shoelaces.
The robbers also attacked a victim who was at the main gate coming from a tuckshop and searched her, before stealing $50 (local currency) cash and a Samsung Galaxy S9 cellphone and tied her with shoelaces too.
They then proceeded to the administration block where they ransacked the offices, blasted a safe using unknown explosives and stole some cash.
