FOUR Tsholotsho men are on the run for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl in the presence of her grandfather. The four from Nemane line under chief Gampu, fled with the girl after raping her and their whereabouts or that of their victim remain unknown.

The incident occurred on Monday at around 7PM. National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police received a report on an incident of kidnap and rape. The four men approached the girl’s home and called her out and when she didn’t come out, they started throwing logs on top of the house. The four then decided to enter the house and dragged out the girl in front of her old helpless grandfather,” said Chief Supt Nyathi.

“Three pointed knives at the grandfather while one dragged the girl while assaulting her. They then took turns to rape her before fleeing with her to an unknown destination.”

He said police were appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the four and the location of the girl to report to the nearest police station.

Morris Ncube, the victim’s brother, identified her sister’s kidnappers as Perment Ndlovu, Talent Ncube, Brian Sibanda and Derick Mathe. They are all related.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Tsholotsho, four men gang-raped a 20-year-old woman last Friday.

Three of them — Bruno Nkomo, 23, Richard Ncube, 17, Madingane Maphosa, 17 and Kabila Ncube of Mbalibali line under chief Gampu, met the woman who was in the company of her 22-year-old sister in their village and dragged her to Ncube’s home where they all raped her.

The incident occurred at around 2PM.

Netsai Sibanda, who is related to the victim, said: “Bruno, Richard and Kabila took turns to rape the young girl. They raped her many times and released her the following morning and when she arrived home she related the matter to me and I quickly reported the matter to the police”.

Three of the suspects were arrested at Tsholotsho centre as they tried to flee to South Africa while Kabila Ncube is still at large.

Lupane policing district, which covers the area, has opened a WhatsApp platform to assist in reducing crime in the district.
