Government is set to establish 40 satellite vocational training centres (VTCs) in Mashonaland West Province as it spreads opportunities for skills development to rural areas. There are about eight functional VTCs in the province, two of which are satellite centres. Kariba District does not have a VTC and there are plans to establish at least three centres covering Mola, Makande and Kariba urban.

Provincial youth development officer Mr Edias Mavune, said 40 sites have so far been identified.

“The idea is to have at least two centres per constituency, where people can get training in various fields that are peculiar to their respective areas,” said Mr Mavune.
