THE country recorded 42 more deaths and 1 370 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.
All cases are local transmissions.
The country has so far recorded a total number of 108 860 confirmed cases and 3 532 deaths since the first case in March last year.
There were 1 294 new recoveries and the National Recovery Rate was 69 percent while active cases went up to 29 472 from 28 938 the previous day.
A total of 5 484 PCR tests were done and positivity was 30 percent.
Midlands had the highest number of nine deaths.
Harare had eight deaths followed by Manicaland with six, Bulawayo and Mashonaland West with five each, Masvingo and Matabeleland South with three each, Mashonaland East had two and Mashonaland Central had one.
Midlands had the highest number of 528 new cases while Matabeleland South and Masvingo had the lowest 44 and 46 cases respectively.
The vaccination programme is continuing countrywide with 21 725 have received their 1st dose bringing the cumulative for 1st dose to 1 645 599 while 16 423received the second dose bringing the cumulative for second dose to 767 910.
As of July 31, 2021 at 3PM, there were 784people who were hospitalised. New admissions were 97. Those who were asymptomatic were 204 while 434 had mild to moderate symptoms, 110 were severe and 36 were in Intensive Care Units (ICU).
“As of 31 July 2021, Zimbabwe has now recorded 108 860 confirmed cases, 75 856 recoveries and 3 532 deaths,” reads the statement from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
The Government has embarked on a mass vaccination exercise encouraging all eligible adults to get jabbed for the country to achieve 60 percent herd immunity.
