Among the graduates, 171 were female and 272 were male.

The students, drawn from Phangani Vocational Training Centre, Avoca VTC, Esigodini VTC, Guyu VTC, and St Mary’s Lutumba VTC, completed courses in various disciplines including brick and block laying, carpentry and joinery, clothing and textiles technology, hospitality and tourism, motor mechanics, metal fabrication, fitting and turning, horticulture, cosmetology, and electrical engineering, inclusive of solar installation.

The graduation ceremony was held under the theme: “Innovate, Digitalise, Enterprise Training and Skills Development Combating Drug and Substance Abuse.”

The government, through the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, plans to establish at least one vocational training centre in every district of the country.

Vocational training centres serve as the government’s conduits for rural industrialisation and economic development.
