He said as at December 28 this year, the total number of road accidents and accident related deaths had also declined compared to the same day last year.
“Five people were killed on December 28 this year compared to six last year on the same day, while 31 were injured last year compared to 11 this year on the same date,” he said.
Chief Supt Nyathi said as at December 28 this year, 86 vehicles were impounded and 6,790 tickets were issued, compared to none last year during the same day.
He said the total number of people who have died this year after Christmas has significantly declined compared to the previous years.
