5 murder-accused in the dock

Four men and a woman from Glen View 2, Harare, appeared in court last Friday for allegedly fatally assaulting a suspected thief. Suggest Javangwe (48), Mcdonald Ridzai (38), Gladman Munhenga (40), Paul Poverty Musekiwa (38) and Hazel Chari (34) appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Vongai Muchuchuti– Guwiro facing murder charges.

They were remanded out of custody on $100 bail to April 4.
Allegations are that in December 2018 at about 3am, Javangwe who is employed as a private security guard by residents of

Glen View 2 apprehended Brendon Kahari after he found him walking on the streets.
He apprehended him and called on other people to assist him.

Acting in common purpose Javangwe, Ridzai, Munhenga, Musekiwa and Chari and other residents started interrogating Kahari accusing him of stealing car parts in Glen View 2 area.

The court heard, they started kicking, slapping and beating him with sticks.
They later took Kahari to Glen View Police Station from where he was referred to Harare Central Hospital where he died on admission.

On December 12, a post-mortem was conducted on Kahari’s body by forensic pathologists, Doctors Yehilyn Igletic Capetillo and Aisa Secognolo who concluded that the cause of death was a result of acute renal failure, myo and haemo globinuria and multiple force injuries assault.

In that regard, the causes of death was consistent with assault.
