50 Bulawayo karatekas to take part in Kofukan

A total of 50 athletes are set to represent Bulawayo at the Kofukan championship that is scheduled for this weekend in the capital, Harare.

The Bulawayo Metropolitan Karate Association (BMKA) says it has been preparing for the event for the past months.
BMKA public relations officer, Greatmans Agrippa Sibanda says he believes they have assembled a strong squad for the competition.

“We are sending a strong team to Kofukan championship tournament. A total 50 athletes will represent the City of Kings in this prestigious tournament.

“Karatekas expected to excel include Bongeka Mguni (15), Divine Grace Rwambiwa (12) and Makanaka Mulopa (12).
“The province has been preparing for the tournament for almost two months now and training every weekend.

“We are prepared as a province and I have no doubt will bring more medals home. Athletes are drawn from various clubs namely Shito Ryu, Sankukai, JSKA, KSI, JKA and karate Nomichi,” said Sibanda.

The chairperson of BMKA, Ndabezinhle Mazibuko also concurred that the province               has had thorough preparations for the tournament.

The team leaves Bulawayo on Friday and is back on Sunday morning. —@innocentskizoe
