DANGAMVURA Beit Hall grounds will be a hive of activity as the fifth edition of the Trust the Process Under-18 football tournament gets underway on National Unity Day (Monday).
The event kicks-off at 8am.
Elite Academy Dangamvura, Faith Drive Academy, TM Academy, John Mandaza Academy, Eastside Academy Zimunya, Sporting Athletics Academy Hobhouse, Westside Academy Dora, AC Academy, MAJESS Academy, Sakubva United Academy, St Augustine’s High School Old Mutare, and Masasi Academy, of Bocha, make up the list of teams taking part in this year’s edition of the event.
The annual event is sponsored by the Chinese-based clothing company, Trust the Process ZW, owned and directed by Sean Kobz Junior, who hails from the sprawling suburb of Dangamvura.
In an interview from his base in China, Kobz said: “We are happy to announce that we are going ahead with the fifth edition of the tournament, and we are grateful for the support that we have received from different sectors of our community. This is our contribution to the fight against drug and substance abuse through promoting sporting talent.”
Previous editions of the tournament featured at least 12 Under-18 teams from around Dangamvura and beyond, with Young Stars Academy winning last year’s edition.
In addition to Trust the Process ZW, the tournament has been supported by several community-based organisations and businesses.
With sponsors still signing up, this year’s edition has already received backing from the non-profit Clubhouse International, the Texas-based Strive Tennis, EasyGet, Mazlect Energy, Taurayi Dhliwayo, and Dangamvura United FC.
The tournament is also receiving significant support from Zimbabwean international striker, Nyasha Mushekwi, who is currently based in the Chinese League.
Mushekwi has been sponsoring soccer kits and other items for the TTP Tournament every year.
