6 Zanu-PF officials face disciplinary action

Harare Bureau
THE Zanu-PF National Disciplinary Committee is working to clear six pending disciplinary cases involving some senior party officials implicated in a nefarious plot to unconstitutionally remove President Robert Mugabe from power.

The committee is chaired by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko and its other members include Cde Grace Mugabe (secretary for Women Affairs), Cde Pupurai Togarepi (secretary Youths Affairs) and Cde Saviour Kasukuwere (secretary for Commissariat).

Cde Kasukuwere and Zanu-PF national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the development, but declined to divulge names of those under investigation.

But sources said some of the people who are going to appear before the NDC include Central Committee member Cde Lazarus Dokora, who is also the Primary and Secondary Education Minister.

Cde Dokora is accused of hosting a meeting of the party’s district members in Mozambique towards the 6th Zanu-PF National People’s Congress held in December last year.

The meeting was reportedly aimed at pushing for the candidature of expelled and former Vice President Joice Mujuru to succeed President Mugabe through any means.

“Cde Dokora is among the people who are going to appear before the NDC,” said the source.

“He’s said to have organised an unsanctioned meeting of district members in Rushinga that was held in Mozambique.”

In Manicaland, it is understood that some are pushing for the expulsion of suspended member Cde Enock Porusingazi.

Sources said Cde Porusingazi is accused of being a senior member of the Mujuru cabal.

“Cde Porusingazi is also likely to re-appear before the NDC because there’s a feeling among some from Manicaland that he was a member of the ‘gamatox gang’,” said the source.

Cde Porusingazi is serving a two-year suspension from the party.

Cde Criswell Mutematsaka from Mashonaland Central is also understood to be among the people who will appear before the NDC, as well as Kwekwe Central House of Assembly member Cde Masango Matambanadzo.

Charges against Cde Matambanadzo could not be verified, but he was once involved in a public fist fight with a fellow party member Cde Owen Ncube who is the MP for Gokwe-Kana.

Said the source: “Former Mashonaland West provincial chair Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has to answer some questions before the NDC.

“He has to answer charges that he was leaking the party’s classified information to expelled party member Temba Mliswa.”

The name of the other person set to appear before the NDC could not be ascertained by yesterday.

The NDC has since January dealt with more than 100 disciplinary cases, which resulted in expulsions and suspensions.
