A TOTAL of 764 women and youths from across Manicaland graduated on Monday with community life skills and entrepreneurship training designed to equip them with practical competencies to establish businesses, create employment and improve household incomes.
Women made up 80 percent of the graduates, while men accounted for 20 percent.
Officiating at the ceremony, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Senator Monica Mutsvangwa challenged the graduates to translate their newly acquired knowledge into viable businesses that contribute to economic growth.
She described the programme as a strategic Government intervention designed to empower women and young people through practical skills development, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
The initiative, she said, aligned with the Government’s drive to equip citizens with marketable skills that enable them to participate meaningfully in the economy instead of relying solely on formal employment.
“This initiative goes beyond skills training. It is about empowering people to become self-reliant, embrace entrepreneurship and unlock opportunities that improve household incomes while reducing poverty and unemployment,” Sen Mutsvangwa said.
She urged the graduates to use their skills productively.
