STUDENTS at all levels of education must be equipped with digital skills to meet the demands of an evolving world, Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Simelisizwe Sibanda, has said.
He made the remarks at Morgan Zintec College’s 48th graduation and diploma awarding ceremony in Harare yesterday, where he was represented by the ministry’s chief director of finance and administration, Ms Memory Mukondomi.
A total of 774 teachers graduated —36 males and 738 females.

Among them, 337 completed the Early Childhood Development (ECD) course, while 437 graduated in the General Course.
Since its inception, the college has produced 11 247 educators, contributing 6,35 percent to the total number of teachers trained in Zimbabwe to date.

“A balanced representation is essential for inclusive classrooms and diverse role modelling,” said Deputy Minister Sibanda.
He emphasised that digital literacy and innovation are now central to national competitiveness.
“In an era defined by rapid technological change, digital literacy is no longer optional.
“By equipping our educators with digital skills, we prepare them for the demands of the 21st century economy,” he said.
Deputy Minister Sibanda praised the college’s Work for Fees Programme, describing it as “a model of dignity, empowerment, and sustainability”.
