A TOTAL of 89 recruits graduated at Imbizo barracks on Friday after completing six months training in various logistic courses.
The graduates underwent courses that included senior mechanical transportation management, driving examiners, senior stores management, senior catering management and basic cookery. Among the graduates were female officers.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Commander of Ordnance Supply Depot Bulawayo, Lieutenant Colonel Washington Mushawarima, said the graduation was a testimony of the country’s preparedness to face any aggression.
“This marks another achievement by the ZNA as we endeavour to consolidate our level of preparedness against any form of aggression,” he said.
Lt Col Mushawarima said the graduates had to make do with limited resources during their training because of the illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the west and its allies.
“It is a fact that resources are difficult to acquire under the prevailing economic environment and there is therefore a need for ZNA to concentrate on training equipment managers.
“Students were equipped with knowledge in ordnance procedures, accounting and control of unit stores.”
He said most of the courses were mainly centred on supervision and management of army resources.
“You are now members tasked with the responsibility of being custodians of equipment procured for the Zimbabwe National Army as well as our sister organisations.
“Logistic training is resource intensive and requires a lot of support and hence I wish to acknowledge the hard work and all the effort which has made this day a success,” said Lt Col Mushawarima.
He challenged recruits to be responsible and continue working hard.
