A bond forged in gold

Precious Muzanenhamo

WHEN shadows lengthen and the skies begin to weep,

and the weight of the world makes the mountain feel steep,

you emerge as a beacon, a soft, golden glow,

illuminating paths only the two of us know.

You are the sudden sun through a persistent rain,

the whisper of hope that silences pain.

Charming and spirited, a soul bright and sweet,

with a wit so infectious, it is a joy to be beat.

In the theatre of the “crazy”, we take centre stage,

writing our own story, page after vibrant page.

You possess the rare key to the vault of my mind;

Regardless of my season, you are patient and kind.

You weave threads of laughter into the fabric of my day,

Chasing the ghosts of my worries away.

I am no longer a fragment, a soul split in two;

I find I am whole when I am standing with you.

It is not the grand gestures that I hold dearest,

but the quiet, simple magic of having you near.

We trade in the currency of inside jokes and light,

building a fortress against the dark of the night.

And in the breaking of bread, the food that we share,

lies the silent, sweet language of how much you care.

With you, the “unknown” loses its serrated edge,

a friendship that acts as a safe, hallowed ledge.

Neither the erosion of time nor the distance of miles

can dim the memory of our shared, secret smiles.

You are a fixture of grace, a permanent space,

which no other presence could ever replace.

Whenever we meet, the air starts to spark;

a chemical click, a light in the dark.

We are two minds in motion, a syncopated beat,

finding a rhythm that makes life complete.

Ours is a covenant, a bond forged in gold —

a story of friendship that will never grow old.
