A DECADE OF A VIRTUAL PARTNERSHIP

RENOWNED music producer and arts critic, Clive “Mono” Mukundu, has been working virtually with Kambo Boys for a decade.

Mukundu is the producer of the UK-based group.

The partners have never worked physically in the same space since they came together in 2015.

Kambo Boys have hit songs like ‘Melo,’ ‘Chihera’ and ‘Sweet Larissa.’

They are set to release an album tomorrow titled “Tahwinha.”

The five-track album was produced by Mono.

Kambo Boys is made up of Tonderai “Maheu” Nembaware and Simbarashe Mupfudze.

“I have been working with Kambo Boys since 2015. They discovered me on YouTube and contacted me, and we recorded their first hit song, ‘Melo.’

“Some refer to their brand of sungura as ‘Private School Sungura Music’ due to its polish.

“And, as someone who constantly preaches against imitating other artists, I am relieved that they do not imitate anyone.

“We work over the internet, they send me a vocal demo, which I interpret and create an instrumental, which I send to them, after which they do the vocals in a studio in the United Kingdom, send back the vocals via email, and I sync them to the music, before I complete everything here and send them the finished product.

“We have never worked in the same space on any of our hits together.”

Kambo Boys were formed in 2014 in Ipswich by Mupfudze and Nembaware who, from 2006 to 2013, were in an acapella group of six guys.
