THE Zimbabwe Kick-boxing Association (ZIKA) will host the inaugural edition of the Combat Sports 4ED, at the City Sports Centre on Saturday.
The event launch and tournament will showcase kick-boxing, Karate, Kung-fu, Boxing, Tae kwon Do, Judo, Biotins, Wrestling and MMA displays.
ZIKA president, Tony Kamangira said everything is now in place to host the festival, and they are looking forward to a huge turnout from all the sports codes representatives.
“We are happy to announce that we are going to host the inaugural Zimbabwe National Kick-boxing combat sports festival this Saturday. This year we have combined the championship with combat sports as we rarely have national tournaments.
“The tournament will cater for all age groups from junior boys and girls to open senior men and women.
“We are also looking forward to assemble a strong team for kick-boxing that will represent the country at this year’s All Africa Championships in Egypt on December 8.
“This is going to be a big tournament, and we hope to have a successful festival,” said Kamangira.
Kamangira has hailed the association patron, Sean Mnangagwa for the support he has given them.
“We are grateful to our patron who has stood with us through thick and thin. The patron has helped us so much as an association and we really appreciate. Despite securing the venue for us he managed to bail us to clear for development material we got from the World Kick-boxing Association.
“The materials meant for grassroots development are already cleared and ready for collection and distribution to provinces.
“As ZIKA we are honoured to have the unwavering support in our patron, Mnangagwa, whose sponsorship and commitment to youth empowerment, discipline and sports develop has enabled the growth of kick-boxing across Zimbabwe.
“Through his patronage, ZIKA continues to deliver programs aligned to vision 2030 and National development strategy 2 (NDS2),” added Kamangira.
