BEING a millionaire is qualified by monetary and asset value. One minister of the Word, Apostle Florence Kanyati, wants to be a different kind of millionaire. The co-founder of Grace Unlimited Ministries International and Zoe Life Changing Ministries desires to one day be a millionaire qualified by the number of souls she brings to Christ.
An author of 26 books, Apostle Florence Kanyati is a woman of many talents. Three times she has officiated at Independence and Heroes day celebrations, shared the Word at the official opening of Parliament in 2005, and has been part of proceedings at several State banquets. She says, “I am too relevant to be ignored. Once you meet me you can’t ignore me because what the anointing does is you impart, ignite, inspire and instruct. You become too relevant to be ignored. And the Bible says your gift makes room for you.
“My husband and I believe God has called us to touch, teach, train and transform lives all to the glory of God. My passion is to impart before I depart and I believe I am a gift to my generation. Anything that God has given me I want to share both locally, regionally and internationally,” the mother of two daughters said. Apostle Kanyati always knew what she wanted early in life and received her calling in Grade 7 through Scripture Union.
“I had a date with the pulpit from the time I was in Form 3. God gave me a call, so I went to Bible school,” she said. At 21, two weeks before her wedding, Apostle Kanyati graduated from Bible College.
“When I went to Bible school all I wanted was to reach out to as many people as possible through SU and I remember whenever there was something happening whether it was a camp we were the resource people.”
In the years between 1999 and 2001 Grace Unlimited Ministries International and Zoe Life Changing Ministries were born. However frustrations would follow in the period of forming her women’s ministry.
“In 2001 I launched a women’s ministry and initially we used to call it Woman of Substance and Excellence. By the grace of God I got called to speak at different churches. Before we knew it a lot of ministries were being called by our women ministry’s name so I was a bit upset,” Apostle Kanyati said.
Deciding to move on she would later re-brand her women’s ministry to Rizpah, which is capped by an annual ladies conference.
Mentored by the late Evangelist Chiweshe, she has learnt not to despise the days of humble beginnings. “I used to preach during lunch hour at Rotten Row, Zesa and Harare City Council buildings as well as Cleveland Dam. I believe I was called to speak to this generation.”
Now she has preached across the globe. With challenges of homosexuality among others confronting this generation, Apostle Kanyati feels the urge to work with young people.
“God has given me a mandate to raise prayer warriors. The previous generation believed in us and invested in us. Now we have issues such as homosexuality which are destroying our young ones. There is so much moral decadence-someone has to rise,” she added.
As she celebrates he birthday on the 20th of this month, Apostle Kanyati celebrates a life of miracles in her ministry.
“God has put us in healing and deliverance. And at Rizpah 2015 we prayed for a woman with stage 3 cancer and has been totally healed. One longest record of a women we have prayed for was one married for 17 years and had failed to conceive. Today she is a mother. I have that passion for women.”
