Masiyephambili College in Bulawayo has recorded significant developmental milestones despite the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic which stunted the growth of many institutions in Zimbabwe and beyond.

The school recently celebrated its achievements through various activities including a robotics competition.

The day was also open to Grade Sevens and their parents who hope to be part of the school community in the coming year.

A palisade fence and wall, a Biology laboratory, a computer laboratory, and a 67-seater bus were also commissioned.

Speaking at the event, Masiyephambili College headmistress Mrs Khesiwe Phuthi said the occasion was a proud moment for the school.

“It gives me great pleasure to look back at the last three years and say “well done”. Well done to the parents for trusting us and choosing Masiyephambili College as a school for their children.

Thank you, parents, for paying school fees and levies that have made these achievements possible,” said Mrs Phuthi.

She said the security fence project was started in February 2022 and completed in November 2022 at a cost of US$250 000.

“The fence totally changed the face, tone, and aesthetic value of the college,” she said.
In an interview with Sunday News,

from Easy Gas and Plumbing said his company offered chemistry laboratory services and the new installation of the biology laboratory.

The school now has three laboratories which enable students to do their practical work. The computer laboratory is being extended from a 25-seater one to a 40-seater and is yet to be completed.

Mrs Phuthi said the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) is the one that came up with the idea of purchasing the school bus, the first bus ever in the 22 years of operation at Masiyephambili College. The bus was purchased at a cost of US$176 000.

After the commissioning of the post-Covid-19 projects, post-Africa Day celebrations commenced in which a lot of African activities including modelling and dancing were carried out and traditional food was served.

“Thank you to the supportive Board of Governors who have offered financial and emotional guidance in all the projects done. Thank you to Masiyephambili staff for the support during the time we were working on the projects”, said Mrs Phuthi.
