CHEERS, colour and pride swept through Mazowe as the town rang in the New Year in style with the launch of Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village.
Indeed, a new gem has been added to Zimbabwe’s tourism crown, marking a spectacular start to 2026.
The atmosphere was electric, alive with powerful performances by Zimbabwe’s top musical acts, the tantalising aromas of festive feasting and the joyous buzz of families, youth and visitors coming together to celebrate.
Nestled beneath a towering, history-laden mountain, Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village blends stunning natural beauty with rich cultural heritage, offering a vibrant and serene space for relaxation, entertainment, and cultural celebration.
The launch was a feast for the senses, with Tourism and Hospitality patron, First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, among the guests who added flair to the occasion.
Traditional huts crafted from thatch and natural textures curve gracefully across the landscape, leading visitors to a cultural kitchen where clay pots simmer over open fires, filling the air with mouthwatering aromas.
A nearby conference and wedding arena stood ready for music, dance and festivities, while a lively braai area encouraged storytelling, laughter and community connection.
The event drew eager crowds, and the energy was palpable.
Among the main acts, Jah Prayzah began the day with a guided tour of the spectacular Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village facilities, led by Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Barbara Rwodzi.
He later took to the stage, commanding the crowd with his infectious Afro-pop rhythms.
Classics like Jerusalem and Goto had fans dancing and singing along, while newer hits such as Necessary kept the energy soaring.
The high-octane Ruzhowa sealed the performance, transforming the arena into a joyous, unified sing-along.
Tourism and Hospitality patron, First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, joined the celebrations, dancing and sharing in the communal festivities.
Her presence highlighted unity and togetherness, adding warmth and encouragement as Zimbabweans embraced the New Year.
The musical excitement began earlier with a soulful opening by Feli Nandi, followed by Tammy Moyo’s powerful, heartfelt set that drew thunderous applause.
Comic Elder kept spirits high with his trademark humour, performing without his signature bag and shirt before fans playfully ensured it was returned.
Adding a playful twist, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Tongai Mnangagwa donned the shirt and joined the crowd’s chant of the “Zimbhoo” motto, a gesture widely seen as support for local community initiatives and cultural gatherings.
As the sun set over the Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village landscape, it was clear this was more than a launch it was a celebration of Zimbabwe’s vibrant cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and the power of community spirit.
Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village stands as a living tribute to the past and a beacon for the future, a space where culture, recreation, music, feasting, and togetherness converge, inviting visitors to honour and enjoy the land’s enduring legacy.
The ceremony was graced by Ministers and deputies, Government officials, traditional leaders, including Chief Negomo, who gathered to witness the unveiling of the breathtaking Baradzanwa Cultural Leisure Village Scenic Tourist Site in Mazowe.
The presence of these dignitaries underscored the significance of the occasion and highlighted the Government’s commitment to promoting the country’s tourism sector.
