IT was a delightful surprise to come across a modern, contemporary shopping centre in Alexandra Park, situated at the corner of Fleetwood Road and Churchill Drive, where the Cosmopolitan Restaurant serves as the main attraction.
Surrounding the eatery is an array of curated shops, including Thrift Fit, Camille Beauty Spa, Home Harmony, Max Hair Balloon, Style on Deck, Skyroom Emporium, Little Dreams and The Toy Shop.
This small but unique destination is an ideal place to unwind.
The restaurant itself is fit for royalty, offering a luxury table setting nestled within abundant greenery that creates a cosy, intimate atmosphere for dining.
The garden setting is a masterclass in maximising a small space. By choosing the right plants with enough colour to mesmerise shoppers, the landscape feels expansive.
A unique lighting design makes the centre particularly inviting at night, with large bulbs scattered across the lush lawn.
The clever use of container gardening and potted plants reduces maintenance pressure while providing shoppers with ample space to mingle at ease.
The dedicated play area for children brightens the centre and grants parents a welcome moment of rest while the kids are occupied.
The layout also demonstrates the power of landscape zoning; by having clearly distinguished sections, the garden maintains an overall sense of order and purpose.
The deliberate choice of a dark colour palette for the building creates a sophisticated, moody environment perfect for relaxation.
It is a testament to the power of careful colour selection. However, I did notice a lack of ambient music as I moved through the complex — an addition that could greatly enhance the mood on any given day.
To complete the experience, the centre offers ample parking.
