AAG hails women’s bank

The Affirmative Action Group (AAG) Women’s Desk in Mashonaland West has hailed the new dispensation for establishing the Zimbabwe Women’s Micro-finance Bank.

The bank was issued with a licence by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and was officially launched by President Mnangagwa on Monday.

The bank will provide financing for small-scale farmers, savings accounts for registered small businesses and group savings accounts.

The bank will benefit all Zimbabweans, but it is mainly targeting women in rural areas.

In an interview, the AAG Women’s Desk provincial chairperson Mrs Pauline Chiripanyanga said President Mnangagwa was committed to improving women’s lives.

She urged women to take advantage of the women’s bank, which will avail loans to women at concessionary rates.

“The establishment of the bank has come at a time when women are finding it difficult to get funds for their businesses, hence they should take advantage of the new development.

“The development of women is a topical issue globally and the Zimbabwean Government has committed itself to drive policy and programmes that support women empowerment.”

“In Zimbabwe the majority of women are entrepreneurs and the opening of  the Zimbabwe Women Micro-Finance Bank makes the achievements aspirations a reality.”
