About new year resolutions

As the New Year comes in, it sounds really hip and flashy to talk about your new year’s resolution. But how many of us ever follow through that decision to study harder? For once in my life I made my resolution and was able to fulfil it. My 2013 new year’s resolution was not to have a resolution at all. I figured it never made any sense to promise something that I cannot see through.

But some of my friends would have up to twenty resolutions to fulfil in one year. This was literally a wish list.

Common among young women was the obvious – weight loss and getting fit.

They go through the internet looking for ways to help them lose weight and are so determined about doing so.

Clothes and friends are what make ladies interested in losing weight more. Some of the celebrities we try to imitate actually advice us to appreciate who we are.

Says Jennifer Lopez, “When I started on TV, people even my own manager at the time would tell me I had to make all of these changes.

But you have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or my shape or who I am, you’re the one with the problem!’ And when you can really believe that, all of a sudden other people start believing too.”

Facebook was one of the greatest applications to connect people.  Apparently it is also one of the worst applications. Having been replaced by a vast amount of new and advanced applications, this is not stopping Facebook users.

It appears that other people try to avoid using it as it is a hindrance to the real life socialisation.

However, it is quite clear that we cannot rid of this application easily, because as it is people never stop uploading, posting, liking and commenting.  How then can we avoid it? It is only through a strong will.

For others the resolution is to stop doing something that you really know is not good for you or other people, but you find it hard to resist anyway. You could be a bully who enjoys making other people miserable.

There is no end to the list of things that we can improve in ourselves so that we get to be better people. No need to make a loud noise about it. And why wait for the New Year, do it today.
