A PLUMTREE woman has dragged her abusive police officer husband to court seeking a protection order. In her application, Tadzirayi Moyo, said she was afraid to live under the same roof with her husband, Jeffrey Moyo, who is stationed at Plumtree Police Station as he continuously assaults and threatens her.
She said recently her husband severely assaulted her after discovering that the pair of socks he wanted to wear to work were wet.
Tadzirayi also said one of her ears was not functioning as it was permanently damaged following an attack by the cop.
Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa, granted an interim protection order prohibiting Moyo from assaulting, insulting and threatening his wife.
The magistrate also barred the police officer from denying Tadzirayi access to their place of residence at the Plumtree Police Camp.
‘’My husband has been emotionally and physically abusing me for the past four years that we’ve been married. On January 21 he beat me up severely because the pair of socks that he wanted to wear was wet.
‘’I tried to explain that I had washed them beause they were dirty and suggested that he could wear the other pair but he refused,’’ said Tadzirayi.
She said her husband continuously kicked her on her stomach that was recently operated.
The woman said due to severe pain she defended herself by grabbing her husband’s leg and he fell. “Since that day he has sworn to teach me a lesson for retaliating while he was beating me up. I now fear for my safety and life because he is a violent man and I don’t know what he’ll do to me next,” she said.
