ACTIVE Youth Zimbabwe, a Bulawayo-based drug rehabilitation organisation, received 600 bags of cement from PPC Zimbabwe during the PPC Matopos 33 Miler Ultra Marathon on Sunday to aid in the construction of their drug rehabilitation centre.
The organisation was founded in 2012 to conduct drug prevention and rehabilitation services.
Director of Active Youth Zimbabwe, Romeo Matshazi, highlighted the success of their partnership with PPC Zimbabwe, resulting in a significant donation.
“PPC approached us last October to partner. Our contribution involved mobilising 60 volunteers who manned the water points. These volunteers ensured runners stayed hydrated by distributing water, and they also played a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness by collecting litter and managing PPC equipment at the stations. We are delighted to receive this donation, a significant step towards achieving our goal,” said Matshazi.
Matshazi explained that the cement will be used to construct a rehabilitation centre at their Pumula South site.
“While this donation is a huge step forward, we are reaching out to various stakeholders for additional support. Bricks, roofing sheets, windows, doors, and plumbing materials are all crucial for us to achieve this dream,” said Matshazi.
