Actor Blessing Vingirai who was popularly known as Bonjisi has died. He was 28.  Bonjisi died on Sunday afternoon at Norton Hospital after a short illness. His wife Rumbidzai Vingirai who is well known as Regina in Kapfupi comedy series said Bonjisi complained of chest pains last week.
“He complained about chest pains but we did not think the pain would claim his life.

It is shocking and the loss is painful,” she said.

Bonjisi was involved in a number of acts with Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima , Daniel Kamwanza aka Nyimo and Jefrey “Aphiri” Chikwesere.

He started acting in street theatre before moving into drama and music with Kapfupi. Kapfupi said he was disturbed by the news though the two had parted ways last year in December.

“My coming project was about to unite us again but it is God’s time and there is nothing that we can do.

“It is a sad loss and he shall greatly be missed in the arts sector, he was always a pleasure to work” said Kapfupi.

He said they have worked together since 2007 and he was a hard working actor who wanted to achieve the best.

“If you revisit our comedy series you would realise that he started acting some cameo roles but in our last ‘Wrong Bag’ he was one of the main actors.

“He had passion for acting and wanted to achieve the best and with time he could have been one of the actors due to his passion,” said Kapfupi.

Besides working with Kapfupi he was now working with a drama club in Norton and at the time of his death they had done a comedy called “Tevera Mbudzi Yangu”.

He is survived by his wife and one child.

Mourners are gathered at number K16 in Katanga, Norton and his burial has been set for Norton cemetery today in the afternoon.
