ACTRESS Chimwemwe Chipidza, who has made it into the top 10 of the Africa Monologue Challenge finalists, has now set her targets on top spot in Uganda next month.
She believes her hard work and determination to put the country on the world map has finally paid off.
Chimwemwe is in the running for US$1 000 grand prize and a leading role in a Pan-African film to be shot in the winning candidate’s home country.
All the 10 finalists have automatically landed a role in the forthcoming pan African-Film.
Chimwemwe told H-Metro that she has realised her dream.
“I am excited to represent Zimbabwe at the Africa Monologue Challenge in Uganda next month.
“This is a sign of my hard work and determination to put my country on the international map.
“It also confirms that every girl child has an opportunity to make her family and country proud,” said Chimwemwe.
The two-time World Monologue Games silver medalist says she will tell a beautiful Zimbabwean story if she wins and films the project in the country.
Chimwemwe is a Multichoice Talent Factory product who furthered her art in TV and Media from the University of Zambia.
She started her career at the age of 13 after joining Repteens at Reps Theatre.
She featured in various productions, including CookOff, Much Ado About Nothing (400th anniversary) and 2020 series Blue Roof.
Her creative art also landed her a role at Danai Gurira’s Almasi Collaborative Arts.
