Actress Pretty Xaba affectionately known as Mai Muwenga in local soap Studio 263 has died. She was 49.
Xaba succumbed to cancer of the oesophagus yesterday at the BLK Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi, India, where she had been receiving treatment since October.Taonga Mafundikwa who was the co-ordinator of the Let’s Help Pretty Xaba campaign confirmed the passing on of Xaba last night.
Mafundikwa said burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
Besides starring in television productions like Studio 263, Coliwe, Murambiwa, Something Nice from London, Xaba worked with Tsitsi Dangarembga on the film Wedding Dress.
She also worked on a number of theatre productions with the most memorable being the Rooftop production – Wedding Night.
Xaba is survived by two kids Hope and Runyararo.
