THE ACT’V Group of Schools Sports Department successfully hosted the 2026 Corporate Staff Wellness Games last Friday at Tshebetshebe Elementary School in Pumula South, bringing together corporates, community members, school staff and students for a day dedicated to health, fitness and collaboration.

Held under the theme “Sports for a Cause,” the event sought to promote a culture of wellness in the corporate sector while highlighting the importance of teamwork, healthy lifestyles and meaningful community engagement.

The highlight of the day was a vibrant 5km fun run, which attracted participants from partner organisations, members of the community, staff and students. Every participant was presented with a commemorative T-shirt and a medal at the finish line in recognition of their participation.

Away from the race route, the school grounds were transformed into a health and wellness hub. Corporate 24 provided free health consultations through its wellness tent, while the Council of the Blind offered eye health assessments and consultations to members of the public. The St John Ambulance team was on site throughout the event, providing emergency medical support while also participating in the fun run.

The event also featured exhibitions from corporate partners, with Keep Up Hardware adding excitement by bringing socialites to interact with participants. HOCIC and First Mutual showcased their products and services, while HOCIC also delivered informative presentations on gender-based violence (GBV) awareness and digital safety.

Adding an educational dimension to the programme, internationally acclaimed wellness coach Keith Herwood, representing SkillUp, delivered an engaging wellness talk that encouraged participants to embrace healthier lifestyles both in the workplace and in their personal lives.

Basketball and tennis activities ensured there was something for everyone, creating an atmosphere of fun, inclusion and healthy competition throughout the day.
Reflecting on the success of the event, one of the organisers, Ntando Mpande, expressed gratitude to everyone who made the initiative possible.

“The ACT’V Group of Schools Sports Department extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2026 Corporate Staff Wellness Games. Under the theme “Sports for a cause,” the event showcased the power of sport to promote wellness, teamwork and community impact.

From the exhilarating 5km fun run and competitive games to the health and wellness services provided by our valued partners, the day reflected our commitment to building healthier, stronger and more connected teams. Thank you to all participants, sponsors, volunteers and supporters for making this event a memorable success,” he said.

Mpande said the success of the event had reaffirmed the value of sport as a tool for promoting wellness, strengthening corporate relationships and creating positive change within communities.

He added that the overwhelming support from participants and partners had encouraged the organisers to begin planning another edition of the Corporate Staff Wellness Games next school term, with the goal of making it even bigger and more impactful.
