Adamski’s body to pass through Luveve, B/F

This was confirmed by the legendary Highlanders and Warriors striker’s elder brother Madinda yesterday evening.

At a Press conference held at Mater Dei Hospital where he had visited Peter Ndlovu in the company of Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze and player agents chairman Omega Sibanda, he also briefed the media about Peter’s progress following surgery in the morning.

“We have divided the programme into two. Today in the meeting we looked at a point where there will be several people we will have on board. So we decided to break (the programme) into two so that there is one for Friday and another for Saturday,” said Madinda.

The body of Adam and mourners will leave Nyaradzo at 2pm tomorrow, drive past the family business MAP Brothers along Fort Street before proceeding past his employers’ offices along the same road.

From there the procession will take Sixth Avenue Extension and head to Luveve Stadium where in the space of a year, Adam managed to carve a niche for himself as one of the best motivators and tacticians in the land, coaching Chicken Inn.

They will then drive back to town along Luveve Road to Nyaradzo and then home.

“At home stakeholders like Zifa, PSL, Chicken Inn, Highlanders, will give speeches on Friday,” said Madinda.

He said they had been advised by Bulawayo City Council that Barbourfields Stadium would not be available because it has a top soil dressing. He urged those who would have wanted to attend the service to line up Luveve Road to bid farewell to a deserving national soccer hero who died in a tragic accident on Sunday morning.

As for the body viewing he said they would consult their mother.

“We still have to confirm with Umama, in other cultures viewing the body of someone who has died in such circumstances is not allowed. She will guide us on that one,” said Madinda. On Saturday, Madinda said, the funeral will begin at 8am with a service at Bulawayo Amphitheatre which was donated by the Bulawayo City Council as part of their contribution to the funeral of Zimbabwe’s best centre forward since 1980.

While his young brother Peter outscored him from the wing and midfield, no other central striker even before Independence scored more than Adam’s 34 goals from 79 caps. Madinda said high profile civic and political leaders will deliver their speeches at the service to be held at the Amphitheatre.

His body will then be taken  past Makokoba where he grew up before the cortege leaves for Barbourfields. They will enter the stadium through the main entrance and drive past the main grand stands before exiting at the gate near Barbourfields Police Station.

From there they will head to Lady Stanley Cemetery where only members of the family will speak. He said the two-day programme was decided on by the family and stakeholders who included Chicken Inn, Highlanders and former players.

Madinda confirmed that Peter was operated on yesterday morning on both legs.

“Peter was operated on both legs successfully. Peter is up, he is okay, he is in there he wants to heal and be discharged which is the major job that he is back and running,” said Madinda.
