Goodbye October and November are you read?
Yeah!
The rains are fast approaching which means you had better be ready for the erratic weather; hot one moment and cold the next.
We hope that the candidates seating for final exams are not finding the situation too hot to handle. Some interesting news, Adele’s “Hello” song is set to become the fastest selling single of 2015.
You heard and got it right, if you can check well on social media how many fans are loving the promo, with teens now changing status on their WhatsApp. “Hello — can’t wait for Adele”, posted one jovial fan.
The British soul singer’s comeback became a viral smash when it was released online on Friday (October 23).
The video has already clocked up 107 million on YouTube plays, 27 million of which occurred on its first day of release, breaking all existing records.
At the halfway point in the week, the lead single from Adele’s new album 25 is way ahead of its nearest rival — Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” — with combined sales and streams of 165 000.
This figure includes 156 000 downloads. The current record for first week’s sales this year is held by Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do”, but that figure of 173 000 is likely to be eclipsed by Adele’s sales.
Other top news is that the 22nd annual MTV Europe Music Awards which were being hosted at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy. I won’t dwell much on the proceedings of the show, co -hosted by Ed Sheeran.
Justin Bieber revved momentum for his new album, and both took home an array of awards for their musical accomplishments.
And aside from their performances, there were also songs from stars like Pharrell, Ellie Goulding, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
But like any awards show, the EMAs had their highs and lows.
Some performances were on point; others seemed like they were missing something.
Some of the onstage banter made me laugh, some of it was a little awkward.
The Best
Although it was not shown to American audiences — Kelly performed a powerful duet with Andrea Bocelli. After the legendary tenor performed his signature song, “Time to Say Goodbye”, Kelly joined him for a cover of “Pink and Nate Ruess” “Just Give Me a Reason”. Kelly killed it, and having Bocelli perform in Milan? It was an unexpected, but savvy move.
The Worst
Justin Bieber’s performance of “What Do You Mean”? was light on choreo and showy vocals, but Bieber’s disinterest gave way to calm and collected acceptance speeches. In getting Best Looks he admitted, “I don’t know what to say because I got these looks from my mama.”
On to big screen
So have received overwhelming responses over the movie “Pan 3D”. I understand that last weekend many teenagers flocked to the theatres. I asked for the review but none of them has responded.
Too bad because this is your platform to shine. Bring it on.
This week I took a chance to watch, “Ooops! Noah is Gone”… (Two by Two).
Yah right, I call it Two by Two because it is about two evolutionary outcasts, a Nestrian and a Grymp, forced to fend for themselves — and each other — when Noah’s ark departs without them.
Teaming up with what appears to be a giant slug, the pair must make their hazardous way to higher ground, encountering various slippy adventures en route, all the while escaping the attentions of a pair of ravenous griffins.
Co-produced by Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Ireland, this bland animated Euro-pudding has little to offend and even less to excite as it follows its formula journey toward a communal group-hug.
There are a couple of giggles along the way, but nothing you haven’t seen or heard before in the wholly superior Madagascar and Ice Age series.
Chris Evans provides the voice of sticky parasite StayPut, a role that requires him to shout ‘woo-hoo’ once too often.
I give the movie 3 /5.
