Adra celebrates 40 years in Zimbabwe

The Seventh Day Adventist Church humanitarian arm the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) serving more than 120 countries will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Zimbabwe tomorrow at the Celebration Centre in Borrowdale.

Its work empowers communities and changes lives around the globe by providing sustainable community development and disaster relief.

President Mnangagwa’s administration has created a conducive environment for organisations to do their work and the choosing of Zimbabwe to host the international celebrations is indicative.

ADRA international president Michael Kruger arrived in Zimbabwe on Wednesday to lead the celebrations.

He is joined by ADRA Country Directors from countries like South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, DRC, South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and church leaders from Kenya and South Africa.

“It is such a privilege for me to be here as we celebrate 40 years of ADRA service to underprivileged  . . . communities around the globe,” said Mr Kruger.

“So, I am looking forward to a very special time here in Zimbabwe.

“I am going to see some of the projects done here, meeting with … a lot of other key stakeholders around the country, it will be a multidisciplinary trip, seeing a beautiful countryside at the same time.”

Mr Kruger will be in the country for days attending the ADRA Zimbabwe celebrations including ADRA Zimbabwe’s Big Sabbath at the Celebration Centre in Borrowdale, Harare, this September 9th where everyone is invited for the church service from 8.30am-1pm.
