AfDB supports Mozambique-Tanzania road construction

DAR ES SALAM. — The African Development Bank (AfDB) has granted funding of over $82 million for the construction of a road between Tanzania and Mozambique, announced the institution. The 70-kilometre road will allow access to Tanzania from an isolated area of northern Mozambique, “contributing to economic growth and poverty eradication, promote cross-border trade and strengthen regional integration,” according to a statement issued by the bank. Funding of US$79 million and a loan of US$3,1 million to the Mozambican government, is intended to build the first section of the road between Roma and Negomano, in Cabo Delgado province in northern Mozambique, at the confluence of rivers Rovuma and Lugenda. — macauhub.
