Bulawayo’s lovers of vintage culture are set for a unique Africa Day celebration today as an Africa Vintage Vibes event will be held.
The event taking place at Tshabalala Extension blends African heritage, vintage fashion and entertainment in a celebration aimed at promoting the continent’s rich cultural identity while reviving appreciation for timeless African style.

Organiser Father K said the event was inspired by the desire to celebrate Africa Day in a meaningful and culturally enriching way.
“The Africa Vintage Vibes celebration at Tshabalala Extension was inspired by the need to commemorate Africa Day while showcasing Africa’s rich cultural heritage and promoting unity. Through vintage culture, we want people to appreciate Africa’s history, values and the authenticity of past eras,” said Father K.
He said the partnership between The Pharos Club and the Vintage Culture Association was driven by their shared passion for preserving and promoting vintage culture.
Father K added that the growing popularity of vintage fashion reflects people’s desire for authenticity and a stronger connection to the past.

“Vintage styles offer a unique form of self-expression and allow people to appreciate the beauty of previous eras. Interest in vintage culture continues to grow,” he said.
Revellers can expect cultural exhibitions, interactive activities and vintage fashion showcases throughout the day. The entertainment lineup features Amaselasela Music Band, Butholezwe Ntini, StarMaster, Bangoman, Lynden, LilFreak and Badboydii, while Pantsula Nation will provide energetic dance performances.
Guest DJs DJ Fantastic and DJ BabyDaddy, alongside resident DJs DJ Pro and DJ Givenz, will keep music lovers entertained.
A Best Dressed Vintage Male and Female competition will also headline the festivities, with prizes up for grabs.
Father K said the event goes beyond fashion and entertainment, serving as a platform to preserve and promote African identity and heritage.
“Events like Africa Vintage Vibes help preserve our culture, promote unity and inspire future generations to appreciate and celebrate their roots,” he said.
Looking ahead, organisers hope the event will grow into one of Zimbabwe’s leading cultural showcases.
“We envision Africa Vintage Vibes becoming a major platform that celebrates and promotes African culture in all its richness and diversity across Zimbabwe and beyond,” said Father K.
