DEAN of the Diplomatic Corps in Zimbabwe, Ambassador James Musoni of Rwanda, led a delegation of African and Cuban ambassadors to pay condolences to the Institute of African Knowledge chairperson Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi following the death of his brother, Malcolm Takudzwa Muzawazi.
Malcom died on September 24.
Ambassadors from South Sudan, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Nigeria, Namibia and Algeria were part of the delegation, while Cuban Ambassador Susellys Perez Mesa also conveyed condolences.
Delivering a condolence message on behalf of the Africa Group of Ambassadors, Ambassador Musoni said the diplomatic community was saddened by the death.
“It was with profound shock and deepest sorrow that the Africa Group of Ambassadors in Harare learned of the tragic and untimely passing of your beloved brother,” he said.
“The sudden loss of your brother is a devastating blow. We recognise how deeply he was cherished, and his memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him.”
Ambassador Musoni assured Ambassador Muzawazi and his family of the diplomatic community’s support.
“Please know that you are not alone in your grief; the Africa Group of Ambassadors stand in absolute solidarity with you and your family,” he said.
Ambassador of the State of Palestine Dr Tamer Almassri also sent a condolence message to Ambassador Muzawazi.
“A brother is a keeper of shared memories, a piece of one’s own youth, and a lifelong pillar of strength. To lose Takudzwa is a profound loss that echoes deeply,” he said.
Dr Almassri said he stood with the Muzawazi family during the bereavement.
Senior Government officials also paid their condolences to the family.
Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, Director-General in the President’s Department Ambassador Paul Chikawa and Deputy Chief Secretary Mr Zvinechimwe Churu attended the funeral service on Sunday.
The visit by the diplomats and Government officials followed the death of Malcolm, with the diplomatic community expressing solidarity with the bereaved family.
