The International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) has officially opened submissions for its 2026 edition, inviting filmmakers, tourism bodies, and creative minds across the continent and beyond to showcase their vision of travel and destination storytelling on Africa’s exclusive tourism film platform.
Festival director and co-founder James Byrne encouraged entries from a wide range of creators.
“We’re inviting documentaries, tourism videos, and TV programmes that celebrate destinations, products, and services.
Whether you’re a tourism board, agency, filmmaker, or passionate traveller – this is your chance to showcase your story on an international stage. Let’s connect cultures, inspire journeys, and bring the world closer through the art of film,” Byrne said.
Zimbabwean creatives are well-positioned to shine once again. The 2024 ITFFA saw the nation’s talent prominently recognised when the fashion documentary I Wear My Culture ZW clinched a silver award.
Directed by Gilmore Tee of Paperbag Africa and produced by Prosper Kunyetu, the 65-minute research documentary explored the rich tapestry of African and European heritage, highlighting motifs, colours, materials, and sustainability practices across Tonga, Nambya, Shona, Xhosa, Shangani, Ndebele, Venda, Kalanga, Khoisan, Sotho, Irish, and Scottish cultures.
The project also featured a lookbook captured by UK-based international photographer Val Juma.
Founded in 2019 by Caroline Ungersbock and James Byrne, ITFFA has become a vital platform for celebrating innovative video content in the global tourism and travel sector. Entries are judged on creativity, storytelling, production quality, and their ability to promote destinations and experiences.
With submissions for 2026 now open, Zimbabwean filmmakers and tourism marketers are encouraged to seize this opportunity to highlight the country’s stunning landscapes, vibrant cultures, and unique travel narratives to an international audience captivated by the power of film.
Details for submissions are available on the official ITFFA website.
