ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR elderly women from Seke rural district, under Chief Seke, Mr Stanley Mupunduru Chimanikire, got a timely boost on Friday, after Agape Family Care handed them belated Mother’s Day gifts that included blankets, clothes and foodstuff.
Agape Family Care is an arm of the United Family International Church (UFIC), and is headed by Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa.
Chief Seke described the gesture as a timely intervention.
“We are very grateful for this donation, considering that we are in the winter season. These blankets will go a long way in making sure they are warm,” he said.
“We want to thank Agape Family Care and the woman behind it so that she continues doing the same thing for other women across the country.”
Agape Family Care director Mr Rufaro Nyadembera said the blankets will help the women keep warm this winter.
“Now that we are in the winter season, we found it fit to give them blankets, groceries and clothes as mandated by the patron of Agape Family Care,” he said.
“Each and every one of the 104 elderly women here has benefitted from this initiative.
“We will continue to do this; to take care of the welfare of the elderly from time to time.”
One of the beneficiaries, Ms Albertina Chaipa (70), said she felt blessed and remembered. To be remembered by a fellow woman and our daughter is very touching,” she said.
“Where would we have received these gifts for free if it wasn’t for her wonderful gesture?”
Agape Family Care has impacted thousands of lives in Zimbabwe since 2008 through bringing hope to the poor and vulnerable, and transforming lives. The organisation caters for the educational needs of the underprivileged, orphans and widows by providing food and clothing. It also provides relief to communities affected by natural disasters.
