The Association of Healthcare Funders of Zimbabwe (AHFoZ) and the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) have entered into a partnership aimed at promoting innovation, efficiency, and sustainability through skills training in the health sector.
This collaboration was marked by the launch of the Certificate of Proficiency, a ground-breaking initiative designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the healthcare funding sector.
Speaking at the launch in Harare recently, AHFoZ chair Mr Stanford Sisya stated that the medical aid industry in Zimbabwe plays a critical role in ensuring access to quality healthcare for millions of citizens.
“It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we celebrate the launch of this partnership, which marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the medical aid industry in Zimbabwe.
“The Certificate of Proficiency is not just another qualification; it is a transformative learning initiative designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities within our healthcare funding sector. It represents a shared vision to elevate the standards of professionalism, expertise, and service delivery in the medical aid industry,” he said.
Mr. Sisya noted that as the industry evolves, so too do the complexities of healthcare funding, regulations, treatment protocols, and member expectations.
“To navigate these challenges, there is an urgent need for skilled professionals who are equipped with the knowledge and tools to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in the sector.
“This is where the Certificate of Proficiency comes in. By combining the expertise of AHFoZ in healthcare funding and IIZ in insurance education, this programme is tailored to empower professionals with the competencies required to excel in this dynamic environment,” said Mr Sisya.
He explained that the initiative has several benefits for the medical aid industry, including enhanced professionalism and expertise, improved service delivery, innovation and adaptability, collaboration and networking, and alignment with global standards.
Members and the sector at large will be equipped with a deep understanding of healthcare funding principles, insurance principles, and risk management strategies, which will not only enhance individual careers but also raise the overall standard of professionalism within the industry.
With a workforce that is better trained and more knowledgeable, medical aid schemes will be able to provide more efficient and customer-centric services, leading to higher levels of trust and satisfaction among members, and ultimately strengthening the reputation and integrity of the industry.
The initiative was designed to foster critical thinking and innovation, enabling professionals to develop creative solutions to the challenges facing the sector. By bringing together professionals from across the industry, the programme will create a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking, fostering a sense of community and unity while driving collective progress for the sector.
The partners said the Certificate of Proficiency is designed to align with international best practices, ensuring that Zimbabwe’s medical aid industry remains competitive on a global scale.
“This will open doors for partnerships, investments, and opportunities beyond our borders. I urge you to embrace this initiative and encourage your teams to enrol as a catalyst for change. Together, we can build a future where every Zimbabwean has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, supported by a robust and efficient medical aid system,” added Mr Sisya.
He concluded by saying the partnership is a testament to what can be achieved by working together towards a common goal, with the certificate serving as a beacon of hope and progress for the medical aid industry in Zimbabwe.
