Air Commodore Zimondi dies

Air Commodore (Retired) Peter Gedion Sheik Zimondi yesterday succumbed to injuries sustained in a recent road traffic accident.

He was 65.

In a statement yesterday, Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Air Mashal Jacob John Nzvede said they were saddened to receive the message on the death of Air Commodore Zimondi.

“He was involved in a road traffic accident and sustained severe injuries where he was admitted at a local hospital till his untimely death,” he said.

“I wish to pass my heartfelt condolences to the Zimondi family for the loss and the Air Force of Zimbabwe at large for this tragic loss.

“I say, may the Lord Almighty console you in such a difficult time.”

Air Marshal Nzvede said Air Commodore Zimondi was a determined cadre who served the AFZ with distinction since 1981, after receiving training in Nigeria.

Mourners are gathered at Number 7 Croborough Road in Mt Pleasant, Harare.

Preparations for a funeral parade are underway, with the date set to be announced in due course.
