NATIONAL airline, Air Zimbabwe, has announced the permanent continuation of its Harare–Mutare–Victoria Falls flight route, initially launched for the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo.
The move is set to significantly boost domestic tourism and regional connectivity.
In a press statement on Tuesday morning, the national carrier confirmed that the service, which received an overwhelmingly positive response, will now operate daily.
“The route was first introduced to facilitate travel for the 18th Edition of the tourism expo held at Mutare Sports Club but quickly proved its value beyond the event,” reads the statement.
Air Zimbabwe’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Edmund Makona confirmed the viability of the route.
“This route has received an overwhelmingly positive response across the board. It has evolved from an event-specific service to a permanent arrangement, providing essential air access to the Eastern Highlands,” he said.
The airline revealed that the service will connect Harare to Mutare’s Grand Reef Aerodrome and onwards to Victoria Falls daily, with one-way fares starting from $85 and return tickets from $170.
This development is seen as a strategic move to strengthen domestic tourism and support regional economic integration.
“We are proud to serve as a bridge; linking communities, enabling trade, and showcasing Zimbabwe’s breathtaking destinations,” the airline’s statement added.
The permanent adoption of the route underscores Air Zimbabwe’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between key tourist destinations and urban centres, making travel more convenient for both locals and international visitors.
The airline encouraged tourism operators and travellers to take full advantage of the enhanced service, which is expected to boost visitor numbers to the Eastern Highlands and Victoria Falls.
