Airzim fare promotion pays off

This comes after the national airline slashed fares under their promotion dubbed “Cruising Altitude” following the acquisition of the Airbus A320 and Embraer ERJ145 jet aircraft to augment its fleet.

“We are overwhelmed with sales and we are introducing two extra flights for the Harare-Victoria Falls and Harare-Bulawayo route because of overwhelming demand on all flights,” Air Zimbabwe marketing and public relations manager Ms Shingai Taruvinga said.

She said the national airline launched the promotion to boost domestic tourism.
“Domestic tourism has not been performing very well and we came up with this initiative as a national airline to allow all Zimbabweans from all walks of life to be mobile and be able to travel and access business opportunities,” she said.

She said the promotion was also offering Zimbabweans an opportunity to be able access air travel, which gives them convenience, more time management as well as safety.

“Our roads are becoming more and more congested, but now you can fly to Johannesburg and come back the same day instead and avoid congestion on roads and road traffic accidents,” she said.
Ms Taruvinga said the promotion has also decongested the Beitbridge Border Post .

She said the national airline also wanted to demystify flying and has been able to achieve that by opening doors to all Zimbabweans from all walks of life to fly at cheaper rates.
“We want to thank all Zimbabweans for supporting the national carrier,” she said.
