In an interview, manager of the joint, Andrew Nzombe said the club had invited Alexio in order to diversify the kind of artistes they were bringing to the club. He said the club did not want to be wrongly identified as a reggae only club. Nzombe said the club wanted to cater for different music tastes.
“This will be a different show to what we usually bring to fans on Fridays. This is because we have dedicated our Fridays to live reggae acts. This time we will be bringing Alexio who is from a different genre,” he said.
Nzombe said the club had an exciting programme lined up for fans ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
He said management was committed to making club Forty40 the place to be throughout the month of December.
Nzombe said the show on Friday was only the start of bigger and better things to come.
“We have many surprises in store for our revellers and they should expect nothing but the best in music for the festive season starting with Alaxio this Friday. As Club Forty we plan on setting the party mood for the city of Bulawayo,” he said.
He said the club’s reggae nights where not a concept they had abandoned but a tradition that they wished to maintain well into the future.
“The reggae nights are getting stronger and stronger by the week and that is tradition we wish to maintain in the future because reggae seems to be a genre greatly appreciated by the revellers,” he said.
