Alex’s good day on the greens

ALEXANDRA Sports Club A team had a good day on the greens when they beat City Bowling in the Bob Mitchell Provincial Bowls tournament at the weekend. Alexandra beat City’s B side 30-10 in the first match and peeled 19-19 to City A side in their last match of the day at Avondale Bowling Club on Sunday.

The result meant that the Alexandra A team, represented by Clive Robertson, Mike Eaton, Ivan Pitout and Austin Kupara, are now on 10 points and have one more match to play.

Highlands Sports Club are leading with 12 points while Alex A are on 10 points and Alex B are on nine points.
Eaton was impressed with the intensity of the competition.

“We were happy to win against City, both our games were interesting. There is a lot of competition among bowlers and getting a win is not easy.
“We have one more match to play in the tournament and, hopefully, we will win. We have enjoyed the tournament, it had good support from spectators and it was good to see new faces among bowlers,” said Eaton.

Alexandra Sports Club A lost to their B side in the first match but upped their performance in the second round where they beat both Avondale sides.

Borrowdale Country Club and Highlands Sports Club are also part of the teams taking part. While the men were taking part in the Bob Mitchell,the women were also on the greens playing in the Ethel Thomas tournament.

The Alexandra A ladies have won all their games.
The Alex A team featured Lesley Hayden, Caro McDonnelly, Heather Singleton and Ally Dale and now have 10 points.
